Do Not Overlook the Chimney, Gas Line, and Water Quality
A boiler replacement can expose issues that were already there. An oversized or damaged chimney liner can lead to venting problems and moisture damage.
Gas piping also matters. A new boiler may have different input requirements than the old model, and the gas line must be sized to serve the equipment safely along with other gas appliances in the home. The same goes for the electrical connection. Older mechanical rooms sometimes need a properly grounded outlet, a dedicated circuit, or updated shutoff and service access.
System water deserves attention as well. Sludge and mineral buildup can restrict flow through old pipes and radiators. If the boiler also provides domestic hot water through an indirect tank or tankless coil, discuss that setup during the estimate.
